Biography

Jo Dow's acting journey began at the tender age of 14 when he joined the esteemed National Youth Theatre, marking the first of many milestones in his illustrious career.

Following his graduation from the prestigious Guildhall Drama School, Jo embarked on a thrilling adventure, taking to the stages of Cardiff and Leeds in repertory productions before landing a coveted role with the Royal Shakespeare Company in the West End's production of Les Liaisons Dangereuses.

His impressive credentials also include a stint with Shared Experience at the Mermaid Theatre, where he brought his talents to the stage in the production of Nana.

Jo's breakthrough role in television arrived with his portrayal of Under Secretary Tim in the BBC's critically acclaimed drama No Job for a Lady, starring the incomparable Penelope Keith in 1990.

This early success paved the way for a four-year stint on the popular police drama The Bill, where he played the esteemed role of P.C. Stringer, followed by a three-series run on the groundbreaking medical drama Cardiac Arrest alongside Helen Baxendale.

Jo's impressive résumé also boasts a starring role in the BBC's Invasion Earth, a production directed by the renowned Jed Mercurio, creator of the hit series The Bodyguard.

In addition to his work on The Bodyguard, Jo has also appeared in Mercurio's critically acclaimed drama Line of Duty.

Throughout his career, Jo has made significant contributions to many of the UK's most beloved television programs, including Peak Practice, EastEnders, Game On, Piece of Cake, Crocodile Shoes, London's Burning, Sooty and Sweep, Where the Heart Is, Casualty, Dangerfield, Murder Most Horrid, and dramas penned by esteemed writers Linda La Plante and Jimmy McGovern.

In recent years, Jo has continued to thrive, taking on the role of Agatha Raisin and starring in over 300 episodes of the popular daytime drama Family Affairs as the character Jim Webb.

In addition to his extensive television work, Jo has also had the privilege of working in Irish theatre, sharing the stage with the accomplished Stephen Rae in the production of The Plough and the Stars at Dublin's Gaiety Theatre and appearing in the critically acclaimed production Amazing Grace at the Abbey Theatre.
