Jim Wareck is a multifaceted individual, serving as both a Producer and Writer based in Los Angeles. His most recent film, When I Am Done Dying, has garnered significant attention and accolades, premiering at film festivals in Tallinn, Santa Barbara, Seattle, and Ankara, and earning awards for its writer/director Nisan Dag. The film is currently being sold by Magnolia International.
Notably, Jim's previous film, Newlyweeds, marked the debut of writer/director Shaka King, who went on to direct Judas and the Black Messiah. The film premiered at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, received a theatrical release in select theaters in September 2013, and won a 2014 Independent Spirit Award.
Jim's first film, Below the Beltway, which he co-wrote and produced with Brad Weir, premiered at the 2010 Newport Beach Film Festival, where it won the Audience Award for Best US Feature. The film was subsequently purchased by Showtime Networks, airing from 2010-2013, and Fox International, who distributed it worldwide.
Other notable films include Brand New Old Love, an anti-romantic-comedy starring Aya Cash and Arturo Castro, featuring Josh Brener, Mindy Sterling, and Brian Doyle-Murray.
In addition to his work in film, Jim has served as a Producing mentor for the National Association of Latino Independent Producers (NALIP) Latino Lens program and lectures on independent filmmaking at the university level.
Prior to his career in film, Jim spent over two decades in government and politics at the Federal, State, and Municipal levels, as well as working as a lobbyist and in non-profit advocacy. He holds a Master's in Public Administration from Columbia University and a Bachelor's degree from Vanderbilt University.
