LaMothe's creative journey began with his directorial debut, Amour Infinity, which he wrote, produced, directed, and starred in back in 2000. Shot on a shoestring budget of $25,000 with a single camera, the film tells a poignant story that has since become a cult classic. The film's success can be attributed to its powerful narrative, which has resonated with audiences worldwide.
In 2007, LaMothe produced, wrote, and directed the independent feature film, Blackout. This critically acclaimed film boasts an impressive cast, including Jeffrey Wright, Zoe Saldana, Saul Rubinek, Jamie Hector, Susan Kelechi Watson, Melvin Van Peebles, and Michael B. Jordan. Blackout premiered at the 2007 Tribeca Film Festival and went on to receive top-tier festival selections, including the Chicago International film festival, Zurich International Film Festival, and Urbanworld.
LaMothe's subsequent projects continued to showcase his versatility and talent. In 2011, he wrote, produced, and directed the critically acclaimed short film, The Tombs. This powerful film highlights the injustices of the American prison system and features a standout performance by Rob Morgan. The Tombs received widespread recognition, being an Official Selection at several prominent film festivals, including LA Shorts Fest, Pan African Film Festival, Flickers Rhode Island International Film Festival, Raindance, and the Martha's Vineyard African American Film Festival, where it won the HBO Award for Best Short Film.
The same year, LaMothe was named a recipient of the NJ State Council of the Arts Fellowship/Grant and received a Black Reel nomination for Outstanding Independent Short Film for The Tombs. This recognition solidified his position as a talented and dedicated filmmaker.
LaMothe's subsequent projects have continued to showcase his range and expertise. He directed the pilot episode of Bounce TV's first-ever scripted series, Saints & Sinners, which has since become the network's flagship show and most-watched series in its history.
