Jeremy McWilliams' remarkable journey in the world of competitive racing began relatively late in life, at the age of 24, when he first ventured onto the track. Eight years later, in 1993, he made his Grand Prix debut in Australia, astride a 500cc machine, marking the start of an illustrious career.
Throughout the subsequent years, McWilliams oscillated between the 250cc and 500cc categories, joining the Proton KR MotoGP team in 2002 for a two-season stint. In 2004, he rode with Aprilia, but following their withdrawal from the sport in 2005, he found himself without a ride.
Undeterred, McWilliams signed with the Ilmor team for the 2007 season, despite suffering a severe crash in team testing at the end of 2006, which resulted in the loss of two fingers and a broken femur. The incident forced him to miss the opening round of the season in Qatar, ultimately marking the end of his time with the Ilmor team.
Jeremy McWilliams' impressive career, which spanned over two decades, was punctuated by a notable achievement in 2000, when he became the last British rider to win a MotoGP podium. His remarkable feat remained unbroken until Cal Crutchlow's triumph in 2012.
