Jennifer is a documentary filmmaker and producer with a passion for telling powerful, thought-provoking stories. Her feature documentary, Subjects of Desire, explores the beauty standards of Black women and premiered at SXSW and Hot Docs.
As a co-producer of Stateless, a feature documentary about stateless people, Jennifer worked with director Michele Stephenson and the National Film Board to bring this important story to life. The film premiered at Tribeca and Hot Docs, where it won the Special Jury Prize and Best Feature Doc award.
Jennifer is also the executive producer of Maya Annik Bedward's feature documentary, Black Zombie, which is currently in production with CBC's Doc Channel. She is producing her first History Channel series, BLK: An Origin Story, which she will also showrun and direct with partner Sudz Sutherland.
In addition to her documentary work, Jennifer has produced numerous TV documentaries, including Badge of Pride, Min Sook Lee's film about gay cops, and Dolores: The Art of Art Modeling. She has also created, written, and produced several TV series, including Shoot the Messenger and Guns.
Jennifer's feature film credits include Home Again, which she co-wrote and produced, and Love, Sex and Eating the Bones, which she co-wrote and produced. She has two dramatic feature film projects in the works, including RipTide and 40 Acres.
Jennifer is a dedicated advocate for diversity and mentorship and has worked with various organizations to promote inclusivity in the film industry. She is a founding member of the Black Screen Office and has mentored and hired diverse talent over the years.
In addition to her creative work, Jennifer serves on the boards of several organizations, including the Canadian Independent Screen Fund, Ontario Creates Industry Board, Canadian Media Producers Association, and Regent Park Film Festival. She is also a co-chair of the Canadian Independent Screen Fund.
When she's not working, Jennifer enjoys spending time with her three daughters.
