Jean Carlin, born Harriet Jean Sollenberger on September 2, 1921, in Long Beach, California, was a child who devoted her early years to the arts. Her passion for the performing arts was evident from a young age, as she was drawn to dancing, theater, and acting. As she grew older, her talents were recognized, and she soon found herself signing with a Hollywood agent in Los Angeles.
By the age of 23, Carlin had already appeared in her first major motion picture, Are These Our Parents? (1944),under the stage name "Carlin". Over the next two years, she went on to make over 11 major motion pictures, earning the nickname "The Wild West Woman" for her roles in westerns alongside fellow cast-mate Eddie Dean in films such as Six Gun Man (1946) and The Caravan Trail (1946).
In 1946, Carlin's life took a dramatic turn when she met James Pearson, the brother of her agent, a young Norwegian ship Captain. She left Hollywood, retired from acting, and settled down with Pearson, with whom she had three children: Eric, Nancy, and Ulrika.
Carlin's legacy as one of Old Hollywood's most respected young actresses lived on long after her passing in October 2000, a testament to her enduring talent and dedication to her craft.
