Bhatti's breakthrough in television came when he acted in and directed the extremely popular TV series "Ulta Pulta" and "Flop Show" for the Doordarshan television network.

In 1999, Bhatti made his directorial debut with the full-length feature film "Mahaul Teek Hai," a Punjabi-language comedy that satirized the Punjab police.
