Jason Hook's remarkable music journey began at the tender age of six in Oakville, Ontario, where he started taking private guitar lessons, laying the foundation for his future success.
As he continued to hone his craft, Hook's early formal music training also included mastering the drums, piano, and violin, showcasing his versatility and dedication to his art.
After years of refining his skills in Canada, Hook was eventually signed to Elektra with his band "Monkeyhead". Later, he made the move to Los Angeles, where he became a sought-after session musician, working with acts such as the BulletBoys and even touring with the Vince Neil Band and Alice Cooper.
In 2000, Hook landed a gig as the guitarist for pop sensation Hilary Duff's live performances, as well as recording tracks for her. This exposure further solidified his reputation as a highly coveted session player in the LA circuit.
In 2007, Hook released his debut instrumental hard rock/metal album "Safety Dunce", showcasing his skills as a solo artist. He then went on to record his second solo release "American Justice" in 2007, featuring guest appearances from Alice Cooper, members of Five Finger Death Punch, and Phil Demmel from Machine Head. Although still pending release, "American Justice" promises to be an exciting addition to Hook's discography.
In early 2009, Hook made the bold move of joining heavy metal band Five Finger Death Punch, replacing guitarist Darrell Roberts. The band's subsequent album "War Is The Answer", released on September 22, 2009, debuted at number 7 on the Billboard Top 200 album chart, cementing Hook's status as a talented metal musician.
On New Year's Eve, December 31, 2012, Hook jammed with up-and-coming metal sensation Andy Wilson at a New Year's party in Newmarket, Ontario, hosted by Fan590 and Sportsnet personality Jim Lang. According to Hook's Twitter account, the impromptu jam session would continue in 2013-14 with Orangville Ontario's own, Krang.
In a unique appearance, Hook made an appearance on the History Channel's "Counting Cars" on July 9, 2013. His motorcycle had broken down on the side of the road, and the show's star, Danny "The Count" Koker, happened upon him and helped get Hook's motorcycle running. Hook later appeared in the episode, receiving an Ace Frehley tattoo at Koker's tattoo shop.
