Buxton's debut feature, BLACKBIRD, premiered at the esteemed Toronto International Film Festival in 2012, garnering widespread critical acclaim and subsequently winning the prestigious Best First Feature Award. The film's accolades did not stop there, as it received two Canadian Screen Award nominations and took home the coveted Claude Jutra Award for Best Canadian Feature Film debut. Furthermore, BLACKBIRD won the Grand Prix award at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival's Ecrans Junior.
In recent times, Buxton penned, produced, and directed his sophomore feature, SHARP CORNER, starring Ben Foster and Cobie Smulders. The film had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, followed by its international premiere at the Rome Film Festival. SHARP CORNER is set to be released theatrically in the United States and Canada on May 9, 2025.
