Jan Troell, a renowned filmmaker, entered this world on a sunny summer day, July 23, 1931, in the charming coastal town of Limhamn, situated in the southern Swedish region of Skåne län, which is a part of the larger province of Malmö. This celebrated director and cinematographer has left an indelible mark on the world of cinema, with some of his most notable works including the critically acclaimed "Here Is Your Life" released in 1966, the poignant and powerful "The Emigrants" from 1971, and the historical epic "Il capitano" in 1991.
