Starting her career in film as an actress, Jan later transitioned into casting, where she developed a deep understanding of character development. This insight ultimately led her to costume design, where she now uses her knowledge to create authentic and captivating characters.
Throughout her illustrious career, Jan has had the privilege of dressing hundreds of actors, including Olympic athletes, celebrities, supermodels, film stars, rock and pop stars, and servicemen and women from every branch of the military.
Jan's journey in advertising began at a young age, when she worked as a successful model in Europe and New York. Her first magazine cover was for Italian Vogue, followed by numerous other cover, beauty, and fashion pages in American and European magazines. She was the face of several cosmetic lines, including Revlon, Clairol, and Max Factor.
After acting in television and film, Jan shifted her focus to the other side of the camera, helping to cast several notable films. This experience ultimately led her to her current role in costume design, where she continues to draw inspiration from her experiences.
Jan has had the great privilege of collaborating with some of the most renowned commercial and film directors, as well as many of the most respected photographers in the world, including Irving Penn, Richard Avedon, David Bailey, David Hamilton, Arthur Elgort, Albert Watson, Tony Scott, Joe Pytka, and Eric Saarinen, among many others.
Notably, legendary fashion editors Anna Wintour and Helen Gurley Brown both entrusted Jan with a role in their editing process, each contributing to the formation of her distinctive aesthetic viewpoint.
