Biography

Jamey Sheridan is a talented actor, born on July 12, 1951, in Pasadena, California. He was raised in the same city and pursued a career in dance initially, but a knee injury forced him to shift his focus to acting.

Sheridan's professional stage career began in 1978, and he gained momentum over the next decade. He earned a Tony Award nomination in 1987 for his powerful performance in the Broadway revival of Arthur Miller's "All My Sons." He made his feature film debut in "Jumpin' Jack Flash" (1986),starring Whoopi Goldberg, and started making guest appearances on TV shows like "Spenser: For Hire" (1985) and "The Equalizer" (1985) around the same time.

Sheridan received his first significant on-camera break when he was cast in the title role of "Shannon's Deal" (1990),which he played for two seasons. He then moved to the established TV series "Chicago Hope" (1994),where he played a sympathetic role. In the 2000s, his most well-known role was in the TV series "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" (2001),where he played a police captain for five seasons.

In addition to his TV work, Sheridan has appeared in various films, including "Stanley & Iris" (1990) with Jane Fonda, "A Stranger Among Us" (1992) with Melanie Griffith, "The Ice Storm" (1997) and "Life as a House" (2001),both starring Kevin Kline, followed by "Nothing But the Truth" (2008) with Kate Beckinsale and Matt Dillon, the title role in "Handsome Harry" (2009),and "The East" (2013) starring Elliot Page.

Sheridan has also had notable roles in several TV movies, such as "The Stand" (1994),where he played a villain, and "Ricky Nelson: Original Teen Idol" (1999),where he portrayed actor/director Ozzie Nelson. He has been a steady presence in recent TV series like "Homeland" (2011),"Smash" (2012),"Arrow" (2012),and "Agent X" (2015),as well as in biopics like "Spotlight" (2015),"Sully" (2016),and "Lizzie" (2018),where he played Andrew Borden.

Throughout his career, Sheridan has consistently returned to the stage, where he has found success and satisfaction. He has played notable roles in several Broadway productions, including "Julius Caesar" at Shakespeare in the Park, where he appeared alongside his wife, actress Colette Kilroy. He has also appeared in revivals of "Biloxi Blues," "Ah, Wilderness!," "The Man Who Came to Dinner," "Long Day's Journey Into Night," "A Moon for the Misbegotten," and "The Shadow Box."
