Biography

James is a multifaceted individual with a wide range of professional accomplishments. As a Writer/Director/Musician/Engineer, he has made a significant impact in the entertainment industry. Additionally, he is a Professor at one of the largest private universities in the country, sharing his expertise with the next generation of artists and professionals.

James' impressive resume includes being a top Hollywood Sound Designer, having won the 2003 Los Angeles Music Awards "Best Producer of the Year" award, beating out renowned producers such as Michael Jackson's producer Rodney Jerkins and Led Zeppelin's producer Andy Johns. This achievement was a testament to his exceptional skill and dedication to his craft.

James' family has a rich history, being descendants of two of the oldest American families. His family is even featured in one of America's most iconic paintings by Norman Rockwell, a renowned artist. This painting, titled "Freedom from Want" or "The Thanksgiving Dinner," was created in 1943 and has become a symbol of American culture.

Throughout his career, James has worked on numerous films, including multiple #1 box office hits and over 60 feature films. He has collaborated with some of the biggest names in the industry, including Brad Pitt, Michael Mann, Francis Ford Coppola, Will Smith, Angelina Jolie, Robert De Niro, Gwyneth Paltrow, Gary Oldman, and Jennifer Jason Leigh.

James has also explored his creative side, moving into the Writer/Director's chair in 1996 with his debut TV series "The Edge." This experience has allowed him to showcase his unique style and storytelling abilities.

In addition to his work in film and television, James has a background in music, having spent years as a Musician, Songwriter, Producer, and Engineer. His band has worked with world-renowned producers such as Eric Valentine, who has collaborated with artists like Grace Potter, Slash, Maroon5, Smashmouth, Good Charlotte, and Third Eye Blind.

James' family history is marked by a rich cultural heritage, with his ancestors being original settlers of Nantucket Island, Massachusetts. His great-uncle, Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Robert Peter Tristram Coffin, was a close friend of Norman Rockwell, who utilized James' grandparents and mother as models for his famous paintings, including the iconic "Freedom from Want" painting.
