James Marshall Case was born in Nebraska, the state where his ancestors had roots, but he never had the opportunity to live there as his father, a Colonel in the Air Force, and his mother, a Registered Nurse, were stationed all over the United States. His father's career with the Air Force came to a close at the Pentagon in Northern Virginia, where James attended Thomas Jefferson High School, serving as the President of his Senior Class.
James's academic and athletic career continued to flourish at Davidson College and Duke University, where he was a scholar-athlete and competed at the national championship level in both baseball and basketball. He played and coached baseball professionally until injuries to his back and shoulder forced him to retire, and he then turned his focus to basketball, playing point guard for a top 25 team at Davidson College, the alma mater of NBA star Steph Curry.
James's early start in acting began on the stage as Peter Pan and in a talent competition, singing "While Strolling Through the Park". He then took a break from acting to pursue a career in private entrepreneurship and raise a family.
Later, James returned to acting, taking on the role of "Starbuck" in "The Rainmaker" and "Man" in Edward Albee's "Play About the Baby". His performance as "Man" earned him a "Best Actor" nomination in Charlotte, North Carolina, and after receiving this recognition, James, now an empty nester, made the decision to return to Hollywood to further hone his craft as an actor.
However, for personal reasons, James returned to North Carolina, but has now returned to Hollywood and is committed to staying in the city to pursue his acting career.
