James Hyland is the Artistic Director and Founder of Brother Wolf, a multi-award-winning stage and film actor, writer, producer, and director with over twenty-five years of experience in the profession. He has received more than 190 outstanding reviews and over 300 audience testimonials for his groundbreaking performances.
James' education includes attending the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain and Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance. He made his professional acting debut in The North Pole, winning the Guardian International Student Drama Award in 1996. Since then, he has appeared in over 70 professional productions, working with renowned directors such as Adrian Noble, Matthew Warchus, and the late Michael Boyd, as well as acclaimed companies like the Royal Shakespeare Company and Brother Wolf.
Throughout his career, James has won numerous awards, including Best Performance of the Year at The Actors Awards LA, The Hamilton Deane Award from The Dracula Society, an OffComm Commendation from Off West End Awards, and Best Performer in Theatre from Fringe Report Awards. He has also received recognition from Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace for his Dickensian Scholarship.
James is known for his unique one-man shows, including A Christmas Carol - As told by Jacob Marley (deceased),Fagin's Last Hour, Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, and Silver & Gold, which he serves as actor, adapter, and producer. These shows have toured extensively, breaking box office records and receiving critical acclaim.
In addition to his stage work, James has appeared in several films, including The Impatient Man Who Made His Life Considerably Shorter, for which he won 31 international Best Actor awards. He has also played the lead role in five multi-award-winning international films.
James can currently be seen on stage in his powerful one-man show Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde and in the London premiere of The Mad Hatter's Tea Party, where he will portray the Hatter.
