Jaie Laplante, a highly accomplished film professional, took on the role of Artistic Director at DOC NYC in June 2022, bringing with him a wealth of experience and expertise.

Prior to his tenure at DOC NYC, Laplante spent 12 years as the Executive Director and Director of Programming at the Miami Film Festival, where he made a significant impact by expanding the festival's documentary offerings and launching several successful initiatives.

One of his notable achievements during his time at the Miami Film Festival was the launch of a digital screening platform, which provided greater accessibility to the festival's content. He also established the GEMS festival, a platform that showcased the work of emerging filmmakers, and the Google Talks on Gender & Racial Gaps in Film & Technology, a series of panels that aimed to address the underrepresentation of women and minorities in the film industry.

In addition to his work at the Miami Film Festival, Laplante simultaneously oversaw year-round programming at the historic Tower Theater in Miami's Little Havana from 2011 to 2022. This iconic theater has been a hub for film enthusiasts and cinephiles in the Miami community for decades.
