Jackie, a multifaceted New Zealand creative force, has made a significant impact in the entertainment industry through her work as a writer, director, actor, and producer. With a background in comedy theatre, she premiered her first feature film, The Inland Road, in competition at the prestigious 2017 Berlin Film Festival. Her subsequent feature, The Breaker Upperers, co-created with Madeleine Sami, received rave reviews at SXSW and opened the 2018 Sydney Film Festival, solidifying her reputation as a talented filmmaker.
Jackie's creative endeavors have also extended to television, where she co-created the award-winning TVNZ series Educators, which was dubbed "morbidly hysterical...and funny as f**k" by the NZ Herald. As an actor, she has showcased her versatility in a range of roles, including the desperate familiar in Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi's critically acclaimed film What We Do in the Shadows, the cynical heartbreaker Jen in The Breaker Upperers, and the neurotic gibberish-speaking Laura in Nude Tuesday.
In addition to her work in film and television, Jackie has also directed episodes of popular series such as Wellington Paranormal (TVNZ),What We Do In The Shadows (FX),and Time Bandits (Apple). She has collaborated with Julie De Fina to develop The Office Australia (Amazon),serving as a writer, set-up director, and executive producer on the series.
