Biography

John Michael Condon, professionally known as Jackie Condon, was born in the vibrant city of Los Angeles, California, a place that would later become the backdrop for his early foray into the world of acting.

Condon's acting career began in the silent film era, specifically in the 1919 film Jinx, when he was just a few months shy of his second birthday. This early start marked the beginning of a long and illustrious career that would span multiple decades.

However, Condon is most famously known for being one of the original cast members of the beloved "Our Gang" short film series, a franchise that would become synonymous with childhood laughter and entertainment. What's more, Condon holds the distinction of being the only member to appear in all sixty-six of the shorts during the Pathé silent era.

As his acting career began to wind down, Condon attempted to transition from silent pictures to talkies, but unfortunately, he was unsuccessful. Despite this setback, he continued to pursue his passion for acting well into his adult years, even enrolling in dramatics classes under the tutelage of the esteemed actress Florence Enright.

Although Condon never regained his footing in the film industry, he remained a beloved figure in the entertainment world, often reuniting with his former "Our Gang" co-stars for nostalgic gatherings. In his later years, Condon worked as either a file clerk or an accountant at Rockwell International, where he crossed paths with his former co-star Joe Cobb.

Sadly, Condon's life came to a close on October 13, 1977, when he passed away at the age of 59 due to complications from colon cancer. Despite his untimely passing, Condon's legacy lives on through his iconic performances in the "Our Gang" series, which continue to delight audiences to this day.
