Jack Thomas Smith is a renowned filmmaker, writer, and producer, known for his work in the psychological thriller genre. He made his feature film directorial debut with the 2006 film "Disorder," which he also wrote and produced. The film received international recognition, screening at the Cannes Film Festival and the Raindance Film Festival in London.
Born on March 10, 1969, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Smith grew up in a quiet island community in Michigan, where he began writing at a young age. His family moved to Sparta, New Jersey, where he discovered the works of George A. Romero, Stanley Kubrick, Brian De Palma, and John Carpenter, inspiring him to pursue a career in filmmaking.
As a young adult, Smith produced films for horror directors Ted A. Bohus and John A. Russo, co-creator of "Night of the Living Dead." He later wrote, produced, and directed the dark thriller "Infliction" (2014),which explores the horrors of child abuse and its long-term effects. The film received critical acclaim, winning awards for Best Story in a Feature Film at the Buffalo Niagara Film Festival and Best Screenplay at the Macabre Faire Film Festival.
Smith is a member of the Horror Writers Association and has contributed to the Bram Stoker Award-nominated book "Horror 201: The Silver Scream." He has also directed music videos for various artists and served as the executive producer of his fiancée's TV show "The Indie Lounge."
In recent years, Smith has shifted his focus to documentary filmmaking, creating the pro-military documentary TV series "War Heroes with Kris Paronto" (2021),hosted by Benghazi hero Kris Paronto. He has also directed and co-produced several documentaries, including "9/11: The Day That Shook the World" (2021),"Socialism in America" (2021),"Day of Outrage" (2022),"America Burning" (2022),and "Shame of a Nation" (2022).
Smith is engaged to TV producer and talk show host Mandy Del Rio and is the proud father of Megan Cruz, who works closely with him on most of his projects. His production company, Fox Trail Productions, is developing feature films and documentaries.
