Biography

Izabella Scorupco was born in the northern Polish town of Bialystok, and at a young age, she relocated to Sweden with her mother. She began studying drama and music, which ultimately led to her being discovered by a Swedish film director at the age of 17.

This director cast her in the movie Ingen kan älska som vi (1988),which catapulted her to local teen idol status in Sweden. She then went on to become a successful model in Sweden and throughout Europe, leveraging her fluency in four languages.

In 1989, Scorupco launched her music career as a pop singer with her debut single, Substitute. The single and subsequent album, IZA, both achieved gold status, and she followed up with another hit single, Shame, Shame, which she recorded in 1991.

After a hiatus from acting, Scorupco returned to the screen in 1994, securing the lead role in the Swedish film The Tears of Saint Peter (1995). She starred as a woman living her life as a man in this medieval drama, which was released in August 1995.

Scorupco's international recognition skyrocketed after landing the leading female role in the Bond movie "Goldeneye" opposite Pierce Brosnan. She then appeared in "Vertical Limit" in 2000, alongside Matthew McConaughey and Christian Bale, before taking on the lead female role in the science-fantasy movie "Reign of Fire".

In 2004, she acted alongside fellow Swede Stellan Skarsgård in the Renny Harlin film "The Exorcist: The Beginning". After a few roles in American TV-series, Scorupco returned to the Scandinavian market, starring in the crime/thriller story "Solstrom" opposite Michael Persbrandt and the drama "Guardian Angel", a heart-wrenching story opposite Michael Nyqvist.

In 2014, Scorupco attempted a new genre by starring in the hit comedy movie "Micke and Veronica". Today, she resides in Los Angeles with her two teenage children and three dogs.
