Irena Ristich is a talented actress and passionate activist born and raised in the historic city of Ohrid, Macedonia. With a strong foundation in the performing arts, she has made a name for herself in the industry through her diverse range of roles in films and television shows.
Ristich's extensive acting career began at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts at the University St. Cyril and Methodius in Skopje, where she graduated with a standout performance in Yukio Mishima's "Five Modern Noh Plays". She went on to become a lead actress at the Drama Theatre in Skopje, a position she has held since 1999.
Recent years have seen Ristich take on a variety of roles, including Eva in "Strangers" for the Drama Theatre in Skopje in 2018, Paolina Salas in Dorfman's "Death and the Maiden" for the Wonderland Theatre Skopje in 2017, Cate in "Old Times" by Harold Pinter for the Ohrid Theatre in 2016, and a remake of Eve Ensler's "The Vagina Monologues". Her impressive range has also led her to appear in TV series such as "Insajder" (2017) and "Prespav" (2018).
In "Insajder", Ristich brought to life the complex character of Natalia, a newspaper editor grappling with personal and professional conflicts as she exposes corruption, injustice, and violence. As a guest actress in the comedy serial "Prespav", she stole the show in the role of Lenka (Lenche Burence),a sanitary inspector and former fiancée of the lead character.
As a polyglot, Ristich is fluent in English, Serbian, and Macedonian, with experience in a multitude of accents and dialects. She has appeared in Russian-speaking roles in the TV series "The Godfather" and in supporting roles in Italian for the movie "Bal-Can-Can", as well as Dutch and German-speaking roles.
Throughout her career, Ristich has been recognized for her tireless activism and humanitarian work, particularly in the area of animal welfare. She has been involved in various campaigns, including Avon's campaign Against Domestic Violence in 2016, and has organized numerous donation runs for those in need.
In 2015-2016, Ristich was an active member of the Macedonian Sharena (Colored) Revolution, a nation-wide movement against corruption and injustice. She currently resides in Skopje, where she continues to inspire and captivate audiences with her remarkable performances and unwavering dedication to her craft.
