Biography

Ingibjörg, a multifaceted Icelandic actress, author, and screenwriter, has led a fascinating life. Born and raised in Reykjavík, she has also spent significant time in Copenhagen, where she pursued her passion for drama at the esteemed Den Ny Dramaskole, Centre for the Performing Arts, from 1995 to 1999.

As a writer, Ingibjörg has been an active and prolific creator for over 15 years. Her first major project was a play titled "My mother My daughter," which premiered at the Hafnarfjord Theater in June 2005 and opened the town's Art and Culture Festival "Bright days." Ingibjörg took on the lead role herself, showcasing her versatility as an actress.

Her literary endeavors have yielded two successful Icelandic teen books, which she adapted into a feature film script titled Jitters (Órói). Ingibjörg also appeared in the film, which garnered widespread acclaim, earning 10 nominations at the Edda Awards in Iceland in 2011, including script. The film won the script award at the LesGaiCineMad Festival in Spain and was selected as the best film at the Kristiansand International Film Festival in Norway.

In 2012, Ingibjörg published the historical book Gísli A Uppsölum, which became a bestseller in Iceland and remained at the top of the bestseller list for over a month.

Her most recent literary endeavour is the novel Rogastanz, published in 2014. Efforts are underway to adapt the novel into a film, with Ingibjörg serving as the screenwriter.

Throughout her career, Ingibjörg has demonstrated her range by appearing in films, television, and on stage, solidifying her position as a talented and accomplished Icelandic artist.
