Ilya Naishuller is a multifaceted creative force, exceling as a film director, actor, producer, screenwriter, and the charismatic frontman of the indie rock band Biting Elbows, which he founded in 2008.
Naishuller's educational background is marked by a diverse range of institutions and experiences. Between the ages of 8 and 14, he studied in London, and later graduated from the British International School in Yasenevo. However, his academic journey did not follow a traditional path, as he dropped out of the Institute of Television and Radio Broadcasting and subsequently entered university in New York, although he did not ultimately graduate.
In March 2013, Naishuller made a significant impact on the online world by directing the YouTube video "Bad Motherfucker" for his band Biting Elbows, which garnered an impressive 45 million views.
In 2015, Naishuller ventured into feature filmmaking, writing and directing the action-packed movie "Hardcore Henry," which starred Shalto Copley, Hayley Bennett, Danila Kozlovsky, Dariya Charusha, and Svetlana Ustinova. Additionally, he produced and co-directed the TV series "Barvikha." Naishuller's creative endeavors continued to flourish in 2016, as he shot a video for The Weeknd's "False Alarm," and in 2017, he directed a video for the group "Kolshchik." Most recently, Naishuller directed the action-comedy hit "Nobody," starring Bob Odenkirk, in 2021.
