Born into a family with a rich musical heritage, Ian's talent for performance was evident from a remarkably young age. By the time he was just four years old, he was already being hailed as "Vancouver's Little Harry Lauder" for his impressive rendition of a medley of the legendary Scottish entertainer's songs. As he grew, Ian's diverse range of skills expanded to include dancing, bagpipes, piano, Eb alto horn, and music theory, all of which he studied with dedication.
Ian's passion for acting was ignited during his high school years, and he went on to attend the University of British Columbia as an opera major. After relocating to Toronto, Ontario, Canada, he continued to hone his craft by performing in choirs, musicals, and operettas. Ian's creative talents extended beyond the stage, as he began writing plays, with two of his works, "I'll Go Where Hugo" and "Going Down Under," receiving successful productions in Toronto. He also ventured into screenwriting.
As he entered his 40th year, Ian discovered a new creative outlet in music composition. Since then, he has written two chamber operas, "Benjamin Brown" and "Cassandra," a string symphony, and numerous chamber, choral, and vocal works. Ian has also crafted several short musicals for elementary schools.
In his 50th year, Ian decided to pursue a career in acting and voice-over work, a decision that led him to take on roles in Ryerson University student films. Since relocating back to his hometown of Vancouver in December 2010, Ian continues to nurture his passion for acting, voice-over work, writing, and composing, driven by his insatiable creative energy.
