Ian Hyland is an American actor born in the vibrant city of New York, to a family of actors, with his parents being Melissa D. Canaday and Edward James Hyland. He has a talented sister, actress Sarah Hyland, who shares his passion for the performing arts.
Ian's impressive skills extend beyond acting, as he has a strong background in dance. In February 2008, he placed first in his age group for the Tango, Waltz, and Foxtrot at the prestigious New York Dance Festival held at the iconic Roseland Ballroom in New York City. His dance training is ongoing, with a focus on Ballroom Dancing at Pierre DuLane's Dance Studio, where he has also mastered various styles, including Rumba, Swing, and Merenge. He is currently learning the Salsa and Cha-Cha, further expanding his dance repertoire.
In addition to his acting and dance pursuits, Ian is a medal-winning Hung Fut (Kung Fu) champion in the weapons division. His impressive achievements include placing first in the Long Weapons Long Hand Form in Hung Fut Kung Fu in the beginners youth (under 13) division in June 2007 at the Five Tigers Championship in Baltimore, Maryland. He also placed first in the same category in June 2008 at the same championship, this time in the beginners teen (13-16) division. Furthermore, Ian took third place in the Long Weapons Long Hand Form in Hung Fut Kung Fu in the intermediate teen (13-16) division in September 2008 at the Wong Fei Hung All Kung Fu Championships in Jersey City, New Jersey. Notably, Ian was the youngest competitor in his division.
