Iain Cash is a multifaceted filmmaker and actor from Wigan, Northern England, a working-class town that has played a significant role in shaping his creative perspective. His fascination with cinema began during childhood trips to the local cinema with his parents, which sparked a lifelong passion.
As a young boy, Iain's creativity was further nurtured through his friend's video camera, toy trains, and a pet hamster, which he used to create homemade monster movies. This early experimentation with storytelling and filmmaking laid the foundation for his future endeavors.
Iain's academic pursuits took him through college and university, where he studied film and acting, ultimately graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Film. His first "proper" short film, The Jumper, marked the beginning of his professional career, showcasing his technical skill and storytelling abilities.
Professionally, Iain honed his skills as a camera operator on various high-profile television shows, including Most Haunted and Derren Brown, as well as numerous commercial campaigns. However, his true calling has always been filmmaking.
Iain's breakthrough came with a series of award-winning comedic shorts, which earned him recognition within the industry. He then shifted his focus to more serious dramas, including Forever Manchester, a poignant short film that explored the anguish of parents searching for their child amidst misinformation in the aftermath of the 2017 Manchester Arena bombing.
His subsequent works, such as Dear John, I'm Sorry (2020) and Chapel of Rest (2022),have garnered awards for directing, writing, and performance at festivals worldwide. His latest short, The Circle (2025),is currently making its way through the festival circuit and receiving critical acclaim.
Iain is now developing his first feature-length projects, The Bodybuilder and The Ragged Doll, both of which are grounded, character-driven dramas set in the North of England. These projects allow him to stay true to his roots and cinematic voice while exploring new themes and stories.
