Film director Howie Askins, who grew up on a rural farm in upstate New York, fostered his creative abilities at a young age through comic books and dusk till dawn drive-in movies. Askins' early talent as a filmmaker became evident when his self-produced short films swept local film festivals before he even graduated from high school.
