Person Biography:
Hilla Medalia is a Peabody Award-winning, four-time Emmy-nominated director and producer. She is the founder of Medalia Productions, a creative documentary production company operating in Israel and the US. Medalia is a member of the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, a board member at the Israeli Director's Guild and the Israeli Academy of Film and Television, and a mentor for the NFCT's Business Card Program for Emerging Filmmakers.
Medalia has received numerous awards and accolades for her work, including the Paris Human Rights Festival Jury Award, Golden Warsaw Phoenix, and the jury award at FIPA. Her films have been screened internationally in theaters and on television, including HBO, MTV, BBC, and ARTE.
Medalia has directed and produced a range of documentaries, including "Transkids," "Leftover Women," "The Oslo Diaries," "Muhi - Generally Temporary," "Censored Voices," "Web Junkie," "The Go Go Boys," "Dancing in Jaffa," and "After the Storm." Her films have premiered at prestigious film festivals, such as Sundance, Tribeca, and Cannes, and have won numerous awards, including the Israeli Oscar for best documentary.
Medalia holds an M.A. from Southern Illinois University and is a regular lecturer at The NY Film Academy, NYU, EWA (European Women's Audiovisual Network),and the New Fund for Cinema's Women Greenhouse on the subject of production, directing, and crowdfunding.
