He served as the Prime Minister of Japan, as well as the President of the Imperial Rule Assistance Association, exercising significant control over the country's government and military.

Prior to his tenure as Prime Minister, Tojo held the esteemed position of Chief of Staff of the Imperial Japanese Army, the main branch of the Japanese armed forces. His leadership was characterized by a strong emphasis on Japanese ultra-nationalism, which was often accompanied by extreme state-perpetrated violence.

Tojo's involvement in the perpetration of violence and human rights abuses was deeply personal, with many of these atrocities being committed under his direct supervision or with his explicit approval. His actions had a profound and lasting impact on the world, leaving a legacy of devastation and trauma that continues to be felt to this day.
