Herman Wilkins, a multifaceted individual with Southern roots and Midwestern upbringing, has made a name for himself as a writer, filmmaker, and Californian. As a writer, he has recently collaborated on film and TV adaptations of Flight of the Swallow, a historical biography that tells the story of Eugene Bullard, the first African American fighter pilot in World War I.
Currently, Herman is working on several projects, including the time-traveling musical anthology drama, The Gospel of Ezra, and the historical biopic, The Girl Who Would Fly, which is based on the life of Ada Lovelace. He is also nearing completion on his novel, The Nights of Shattuck Plain, set during the Civil War era.
Prior to his writing career, Herman worked in the advertising industry, holding various positions such as Production Manager and DEI Lead at Across the Pond, Development Executive and Head of Production at AHI Films, and part of the production and marketing team at NBC Universal's Partnerships and Innovations. He has also worked with David and Goliath Advertising, representing accounts such as Starlight Foundation and Kia Motors America.
In addition to his work in advertising, Herman has produced several independent and new media projects, including feature films like HOGTOWN and Medicine Men, and series pilots like Deprogrammed and Joan. He has also worked on new media and gaming projects, including the Borderlands 3 media launch with Halon Entertainment and the series Making It? with StudioBinder.
As an actor, Herman has appeared on screen in TV shows like The Shield and films like The 5th Passenger, and will next be seen in Apple TV's 2023 Limited Series Lady In The Lake.
