Biography

Helena Law Lan, a remarkable individual, has chosen to maintain her independence by never marrying, and her birth name is actually "LO Yin Ying", but she is professionally known as "Law Lan", a nod to the Italian actress Sophia Loren's surname, with a Cantonese twist. Growing up, her family enjoyed a relatively affluent lifestyle, thanks to her father's successful business as a soap merchant, which supplied major hotels in Hong Kong, and the family employed a sizeable staff to cater to their needs.

However, the tumultuous times of World War II took a devastating toll on the family's fortunes, resulting in a significant loss of their wealth. This experience has had a lasting impact on Law Lan, shaping her values and approach to life. She believes in living simply and wisely managing one's finances, ensuring that every penny is spent effectively.

At the age of 73 in 2009, Law Lan has not let her advanced years slow her down. Instead, she dedicates a considerable amount of time to volunteer work, particularly focusing on helping those in need, such as the elderly. Her family is quite extensive, consisting of a big sister, six nephews and nieces, and numerous grand-nephews and nieces. During festive occasions, she often gathers with her loved ones at her sister's home, creating cherished memories.
