Helen's journey in the world of dance began at the tender age of eight, when she first started taking classes in tap, jazz, and classical dance. This early exposure to the art form laid the foundation for her future endeavors in the performing arts.
As she grew older, Helen's passion for dance only intensified, leading her to pursue a major in voice (mezzo soprano) at the prestigious Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. Her academic achievements were soon matched by her professional endeavors, as she graduated from the renowned National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in 1983.
Helen's filmography boasts a diverse range of roles, including Savannah Nix in Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, as well as notable performances in For Love Alone, Dingo, and Alexandra's Project, for which she won the Best Actress award at the Valladolid International Film Festival in 2003.
In addition to her impressive film career, Helen has also made a significant impact in the world of theatre. With a breadth of range that encompasses both classical and contemporary works, she has had the opportunity to work with numerous theatre companies across Australia. Her extensive repertoire includes iconic roles such as Nora in The Doll's House and Jenny in Threepenny Opera for Belvoir Street Theatre, as well as a plethora of productions for Sydney Theatre Company, including Marjorie Pinchwife in the Country Wife, the Countess in The Marriage of Figaro, Helena in Midsummer Night's Dream, and Lady Macbeth.
Helen's talents extend beyond the stage, as she has also made a name for herself in the world of musical theatre. Her notable performances include Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady for MTC and the VSO, Sally Bowles in Cabaret for STC of SA, and Mrs Housemann in the original staged version of Dirty Dancing, which toured Australia and New Zealand.
In addition to her numerous artistic pursuits, Helen is also dedicated to giving back to the community. She currently directs an Australian film festival in south west France and divides her time between Australia and France.
