Biography

Harry Relph, professionally known as 'Little Tich', was born in Kent in the year 1867. He made his stage debut in 1880 and went on to star in numerous performances on the London Music Hall and Pantomime theatre stages from 1884 onwards. Despite his small stature, standing at only 4 feet 6 inches tall, 'Little Tich' was a big name in the entertainment industry, earning the nickname 'the big boot dancer' due to the extraordinary length of his shoes.

Throughout his career, 'Little Tich' had the opportunity to work with some of the most renowned figures in the industry, including the pioneering film-maker Georges Melies. He made his film debut in 1900 with the movie 'Big Boot Dancer', and went on to appear in a handful of early French silent short comedy films, including 'Little Tich and His Funny Feet' in 1903 and 'Le Raid Paris-Monte-Carlo en Deux Heures' in 1905.

'Little Tich's' last film appearance was in the 1909 Gaumont Film Company production 'Little Tich, the Tec'. Throughout his illustrious career, 'Little Tich' was known for his chirpy English charm and his incredible talent, which continues to be celebrated to this day.
