Biography

Jung-woo Ha, a multifaceted South Korean artist, has made a significant impact in the entertainment industry as an actor, film director, screenwriter, and producer.

Born Kim Sung-hoon, Ha hails from a family with a rich history in acting. His father, Kim Yong-gun, is a renowned veteran actor who has appeared in numerous films and television series. From a young age, Ha has always been fascinated by the idea of becoming an actor like his father. In fact, he has said that he began dreaming of acting when he was just four or five years old.

Before entering college, Ha received training at a private acting institute, where he had the opportunity to learn from actor Lee Beom-soo. He then enrolled at Chung-Ang University as a theater major, where he honed his craft by performing on stage.

In 1998, Ha began his mandatory military service, during which he worked in the Armed Forces Public Relations Department. He utilized his acting skills by starring in 10 promotional films for the military.

Kim Sung-hoon made his acting debut in the 2002 SBS sitcom Honest Living and his feature film debut in the 2003 film Madeleine.

He made his directorial debut with the comedy film Fasten Your Seatbelt in 2013.

In 2016, Ha starred in two box office hits: Park Chan-wook's The Handmaiden, an adaptation of the Sarah Waters novel Fingersmith set during 1930s Korea, and the survival thriller The Tunnel.
