Biography

Guillermo de Anda is a renowned archaeologist who has dedicated his career to researching the fascinating Maya civilization. His areas of expertise include the study of caves, cenotes, and the sacred geography of the Maya, which has been the focal point of his academic pursuits for many years.

As a professor and researcher at the Facultad de Ciencias Antropológicas of the Universidad Autónoma de Yucatán (UADY) for a period of 14 years, Guillermo played a pivotal role in shaping the institution's underwater archaeology department, which he founded and directed during his tenure.

Currently, Guillermo is employed by Mexico's Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia (INAH),where he is responsible for overseeing special projects in underwater archaeology, leveraging his extensive knowledge and expertise in this field.

In addition to his work at INAH, Guillermo is also the director of the National Geographic-supported Great Maya Aquifer project in Yucatán, a project that has garnered significant attention and funding. Furthermore, he has received grants from the Society for his Cenote Cult project, a testament to his commitment to advancing our understanding of the Maya civilization.
