Gregory Wilson is a distinguished alumnus of the esteemed Tisch School of the Arts at New York University. During his time at NYU, he was the sole recipient of the prestigious MCAFELLOWSHIP, which provided him with the unique opportunity to intern under the guidance of the late Lew Wasserman, chairman of MCA. This experience was further enhanced by an internship on the production of Imagine Entertainment's Apollo 13, directed by the renowned Ron Howard.
Mr. Wilson's thesis film, The Last Call, starring Harry Lennix, received a Student Academy Award nomination and won numerous accolades for its outstanding writing, direction, and production. The film was acquired by Showtime and aired as a special event, solidifying its reputation as a critically acclaimed work. Additionally, Mr. Wilson won the IFC Award for Best Student Film, with an advisory board comprising some of the most respected filmmakers in the industry, including Martin Scorsese, Spike Lee, Steven Soderbergh, and the Coen brothers, among others.
Spike Lee went on to co-produce Mr. Wilson's first feature film, Home Invaders, which boasted an impressive cast, including Yancy Arias, Luis Guzman, Keith David, Judy Reyes, and Larry Gillard.
Mr. Wilson has also ventured into the realm of book-to-film adaptations, directing a best-selling novel, The Girl Next Door by Jack Ketchum, starring Emmy Award-winning actress Blanche Baker, alongside William Atherton and introducing Daniel Manchie, who later went on to play the lead role in the Broadway production of Tarzan.
In addition to his work in film and television, Mr. Wilson has completed a TV pilot, The Underground, which delves into the darker, untold stories of a New York City nightclub, and is currently in development. He has also scripted a hybrid autobiography about the life and death of 50's screen idol and tenor Mario Lanza, titled Don't Forget Me, which he plans to direct and produce. Mr. Wilson has also directed and produced various music videos and short films, and has completed a second pilot, Majestic, a crime drama set in the exclusive world of the wealthy and powerful.
In 2011, Mr. Wilson directed Brian Keene's GHOUL, based on his bestselling novel, which is scheduled for release on April 13th, 2012, on the Chiller Network - NBCUniversal.
