Greg Glienna, a native of Chicago, Illinois, was an exceptionally active participant in his high school's drama department, laying the foundation for his future endeavors. He then attended Columbia College in Chicago, where he pursued a film studies program that would ultimately lead to the creation of his feature-length film, Meet the Parents. This original version premiered in Chicago and later gained traction in art houses across the United States and London, receiving widespread acclaim. The film eventually caught the attention of director Steven Soderburgh, who brought it to the notice of Universal, leading to a big-budget remake.
However, Greg's journey took an unexpected turn when he dropped out of film school in the 1990s to pursue a career in stand-up comedy. He went on to serve as the opening act for renowned artists such as David Copperfield, Tim Allen, Connie Francis, Emo Philips, and the Marshall Tucker Band. In addition to his comedy endeavors, Greg has also written and directed several films, including Desperation Blvd and Relative Strangers.
Greg has also made a significant impact in the world of scriptwriting, penning the original scripts for A Guy Thing and Dreamgirl, which were subsequently sold to Warner Bros. Although the latter has yet to be produced, his play, Suffer the Long Night, is set to premiere at the Meta Theater in Los Angeles on August 8, 2008. Furthermore, Greg is a multi-talented individual who also excels as a singer, songwriter, and pianist, regularly performing in both Chicago and Los Angeles.
