Biography

Greg DePaul is a multifaceted creative individual who has navigated various careers throughout his life. Born and raised in Maryland, he pursued higher education at N.Y.U. and later worked as a private investigator, simultaneously honing his writing skills by contributing to The Washington Post.

In 1998, Greg made the bold decision to relocate to Los Angeles, where he successfully directed his comedic play, Motherlove, to widespread critical acclaim. This achievement caught the attention of CAA, which led to a collaboration with writer Hank Nelken to create a short film parodying "Jerry Maguire," titled "Jerry Mashugana." The film featured an impressive cast, including Matt Damon, Geoffrey Rush, and Demi Moore.

Greg and Hank's partnership flourished, and they were subsequently hired to write comedy scripts for prominent studios such as New Line, Fox, MGM, and Disney. One of their notable projects was Saving Silverman, a feature comedy starring Jack Black, Jason Biggs, and Amanda Peet, which was released by Sony Pictures and Village Roadshow Productions. They also produced an independent feature comedy, Killer Bud.

Greg has since ventured into solo writing endeavors, with his most recent screen credit being Bride Wars, a romantic comedy starring Kate Hudson, Anne Hathaway, and Candace Bergen. The idea for Bride Wars was born from a personal experience, as Greg and his wife, Dvora Inwood, were engaged and planning a double wedding with her sister. As the two brides-to-be debated over the finer details, such as the band, cake, and dresses, the concept for Bride Wars took shape.

Throughout his career, Greg has been committed to giving back to the community. He has served on the Board of the Writers and Actors Lab, which has spawned the careers of numerous successful writers, and co-founded The Clark Street Players, a similar organization. Greg has also performed improv comedy and co-founded Cornfed, an improv group.

Recently, Greg's plays and sketch comedy have been showcased by The Collective NY, a theatre company in Manhattan. He has also led a screenwriting workshop for Harvardwood (NY),a group of Harvard alumni working in the entertainment industry.
