Gillon McLachlan, a highly accomplished individual, boasts a distinguished educational background, having earned a Bachelor of Commerce from the prestigious University of Adelaide and a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from the esteemed University of Melbourne.
Prior to his illustrious career in the Australian Football League (AFL),McLachlan distinguished himself as a talented ruckman for the University of Melbourne Blues, where he proudly served as Captain from 2000 to 2002, and in 2000, he was awarded the coveted C.W McLeod Trophy for best-and-fairest.
After completing his studies, McLachlan transitioned into a strategic role at Andersen Consulting (now Accenture),where he gained valuable experience in various industries across different countries, including a six-month contract in the Philippines.
In May 2000, McLachlan joined the AFL as a strategic planner, and his exceptional leadership skills soon earned him the appointment as General Manager Commercial Operations in November 2003. In 2006, he took on additional responsibilities in the areas of broadcasting and major projects.
McLachlan's remarkable career continued to flourish, as he was promoted to the position of Chief Operating Officer in 2008, overseeing AFL broadcasting and digital media, fixturing, venue agreements, and stadium infrastructure.
In December 2012, McLachlan was appointed Deputy Chief Executive Officer, and on April 30, 2014, he succeeded Andrew Demetriou as Chief Executive Officer, cementing his position as a leading figure in the AFL.
