Biography

George A. Lara, a seasoned Foley Supervisor Sound Mixer, has spent over four decades of his life mastering the art of sound and film. His illustrious career began in 1985 at Red Apple Studios in New York City, where he worked as an assistant music engineer alongside the renowned Larry Harlow, a member of the La Fania All-Stars.

In 1986, he transitioned to Sound One Studios, the top post-production facility in New York City at the time. Initially, he worked as a Projectionist and Transfers Engineer, where he honed his skills under the guidance of Re-recording Mixer Michael Barry, Foley artists Elisha Birnbaum, and Marko Costanzo.

For 14 years, George dedicated himself to the intricate art of cinematic sound design, refining his skills under the tutelage of remarkable Re-Recording mixers and Sound editors. In the new millennium, he decided to embark on a new venture at C5, Inc., where he collaborated with his present partner Marko Costanzo to establish a state-of-the-art Foley Studio facility, the largest on the East coast.

The last 24 years have been a remarkable journey for George, as he has had the privilege of working with visionary Directors and Sound Supervisors, editors, and enriching the craft while broadening his horizons. He has been recognized in over 600 movies, documentaries, TV shows, video games, and commercials, including 18 nominations and 4 wins.

Many of the projects he has collaborated on have been nominated or have won prestigious awards, such as the OSCAR, BAFTA, EMMY, CAS, and MPSE awards. Two notable TV series that have earned him numerous accolades are "Boardwalk Empire" and "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel," which have been truly fulfilling experiences for him.

George is an active member of esteemed organizations, including the Academy of Motion Pictures (AMPAS),The TV Academy (EMMY),The Cinema Audio Society (CAS),and the Sound Editors Union Local 700. In addition to his professional commitments, he also has the challenging yet rewarding task of teaching Foley recording at Montclair University, mentoring young new directors in their film projects.
