Gemma Hurley, a talented and accomplished writer, has made a significant impact in the film industry. Her notable work includes co-writing the BIFA-nominated horror film "Host" (2020) directed by Rob Savage for Shudder. This lockdown breakout hit received a limited worldwide cinematic release and earned the prestigious title of "best streaming movie" at Fangoria's 2021 Chainsaw Awards, boasting a 100% certified fresh status on Rotten Tomatoes.
Her second collaborative effort, "DASHCAM", produced by Blumhouse, premiered at the Toronto Film Festival and London Film Festival in 2021, further solidifying her reputation as a skilled writer.
In addition to her work in film, Gemma has also ventured into television, penning an episode of the tech horror series "Red Rose" for BBC/Netflix, set to shoot in summer 2021. She is also currently working on various TV projects for Amazon/eOne, Working Title TV, and Eleven Films.
Prior to her success in the film industry, Gemma honed her skills writing collaborative comedy theatre. In 2018, her zombie horror feature script earned her a spot in the top 10 female writers for The Academy-run Nicholl Fellowship.
