Garance Marillier is a French actress who has gained widespread recognition for her lead role in the critically acclaimed film Raw (2016). Prior to her breakthrough in the film industry, Marillier began her acting career in 2011 with a role in the short movie Junior, directed by Julia Ducournau.
As she continued to hone her craft, Marillier appeared in another short film, It's Not a Cowboy Movie, in 2012. Interestingly, before pursuing a career in acting, Marillier was a musician who learned to play the trombone and classical percussion at the conservatory of the 11th arrondissement.
Marillier's impressive performance in Raw (2016) earned her a nomination for the César Award for Most Promising Actress in 2018. Her versatility as an actress is further demonstrated by her appearances in various TV miniseries, including Ad Vitam (2018),Pompéi (2019),Madame Claude (2021),and Marinette (2023).
In addition to her work in television, Marillier has also collaborated with Julia Ducournau once more, this time in a minor role in the 2021 Palme d'Or winner Titane.
