Gabriele Spinelli, a self-taught filmmaker and actor, was born near Milan. He has a multifaceted approach to filmmaking and a deep understanding of the production process, which has led him to work on numerous projects, including independent and studio-funded films, shorts, and documentaries.
As a teenager, Spinelli was already involved in the creative industry, initially working in the electronic music scene as a producer and concert organizer. He later transitioned to videos and films, where he began to experiment with acting and exploring his own image.
In the late 1990s, Spinelli collaborated with Gian Alfonso "Gipi" Pacinotti, who would later become a renowned comics artist. Together, they produced a series of short films, with Spinelli often serving as the main actor. This period marked the beginning of his acting career, as he began to study and take on more challenging roles.
In addition to his work as an actor, Spinelli was also a full-time documentary author and editor. In 2009, he authored and edited the award-winning documentary "211: Anna," which was nominated at the Sundance Film Festival.
In 2011, Spinelli made his feature film debut as the main character in "The Last Man on Earth - L'Ultimo Terrestre," which was nominated at the Venice Film Festival and earned him widespread recognition. He won the best actor award at the Bobbio Film Festival in the same year.
Since then, Spinelli has continued to pursue his acting career in various independent projects, while also working behind the camera as a director and cinematographer on numerous video clips.
In 2015, he founded Laclac, a video laboratory that adopts a handicraft approach to filmmaking, allowing him to explore new creative possibilities and push the boundaries of his craft.
