Born in 1986, Gabriel's feature film projects have been fortunate enough to receive the support of Creative Europe's Media Program, as well as the Nipkow Programm in Germany, allowing them to take shape and flourish. His projects have also been selected to participate in the prestigious Sam Spiegel Jerusalem Film Lab and Cinéfondation's L'Atelier program at the Cannes Film Festival, a testament to their exceptional quality.
In 2019, Gabriel's feature film, The Right One, made its debut in the Director's Fortnight at the Cannes Film Festival, a remarkable achievement for any filmmaker. His work has also been recognized with the esteemed Stavros Niarchos Foundation Artist Fellowship by Artworks in 2022, a prestigious honor that acknowledges his dedication and talent.
Gabriel is an active member of several prominent film organizations, including the European Film Academy, the Danish Film Academy, the Greek Film Academy, and the Danish Film Directors' Association. He holds a postgraduate degree in film directing from the School of Film at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, which he earned in 2010. Additionally, he is a graduate of the renowned Super 16 film school in Copenhagen.
Throughout his career, Gabriel has been an alumnus of several prominent talent programs, including Berlinale Talents and Sarajevo Talents. His short films, Oblivion, Sailor, and Euroman, have gained international recognition, winning over 30 prestigious awards at various festivals. In 2017, his first feature film, Thorn, a Danish-Greek co-production, received the Eurimages Lab Projects Award, a testament to its innovative and groundbreaking storytelling.
