Gábor Reisz, a Hungarian filmmaker, was born on January 19, 1980, in Budapest, Hungary. He graduated from the ELTE Faculty of Humanities - Film History and Film Theory in 2006, and later, from the University of Theatre and Film Arts in Budapest, with a degree in film directing in 2013.
Reisz's debut feature film, "For Some Inexplicable Reason", premiered at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival and became a cult classic in Hungary. The film's unconventional coming-of-age story resonated with audiences, leading to significant commercial success at the box office and on the international festival circuit.
In 2015, Reisz was selected for the Cannes Film Festival's Residence program, where he developed his next feature film, "Bad Poems". The film went on to win an impressive 16 prizes, including the award for Best Hungarian Film of 2018. "Bad Poems" also made a notable impact in local cinemas.
Reisz's third feature film, "Explanation For Everything", is currently in post-production.
