Biography

Francisco Solorzano is a renowned Latino actor, writer, and producer, celebrated for his remarkable achievements in the entertainment industry. He is a Lifetime Member of The Actors Studio in New York City and Los Angeles.

Solorzano's screenwriting credits include the critically acclaimed short film "Cyclone", which features a Latinx cast and won several awards, including the Best Short Screenplay award at the Katra Film Series. He has also written "The Space Since And In Between", "In Sheep's Clothing", and "I Am Here", a Black Lives Matter short film that has been featured in film festivals worldwide.

As a playwright, Solorzano made his Off-Broadway writing debut with "Kingdom Come" at the Jean Cocteau Rep, followed by the world premiere of the stage adaptation of "Dog Day Afternoon". His short play "Mateo And The Whale" premiered at the Awake International Festival in Chongqing, China. He has also written "Flight", "Mikey & Sally", "Sound of Giants", and "Blue Whale" for the national 1MPFestival at INTAR and The New Ohio Theater.

Solorzano is also a talented actor, known for his leading role in the two-act drama "SINS OF THE MOTHER", which was developed with Ethan Hawke, Chris Cooper, Bobby Cannavale, and Michael Stuhlbarg. He has acted in and directed numerous productions with prominent companies such as 303 Theater, The Flea Theatre, 59E59, INTAR, The New Ohio, LAByrinth, Rattlestick, Dixon Place, HERE Arts, Florida Stage, EST, Orlando Shakes, Stella Adler Theater, Art of Acting Studio in LA, and many others.

With over 20 years of experience producing theatrical productions, Solorzano has also produced special events, including Barefoot Theatre Company's annual Gala and Vassallo Awards, Rockaway, benefiting victims of Hurricane Sandy, and Indestructible, for victims of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico and the devastating 2017 earthquake in Mexico. He is the Executive Producer of the 70/70 Horovitz Project, a worldwide festival with productions in Nigeria, Greece, Australia, and France.

Solorzano's education includes TV writing with Andrea Ciannavei, screenwriting with Jacob Krueger Studio, NYU's Tisch: Film and TV Industry Essentials, The Actors Studio, playwrighting at Brooklyn College, Playwrights Horizons, and Mary Gallagher. He has also received acting training with The Actors Studio, Lee Strasberg Theater Institute, HB Studio, LAByrinth Theater Company, and Lyle Kessler's Acting Masterclass. Solorzano holds a BFA in Acting & Cinema Arts from CUNY's Brooklyn College, where he was awarded the Department of Theater Alumnus of the Year Award.

Currently, Solorzano serves as the Creative Director of Connected Health Solutions, Inc., focusing on writing and producing. He is also the Co-Founder of Barefoot Studio Pictures & Barefoot Theatre Company. As a proud member of The Actors Studio's Playwright/Directors Unit, Actors' Equity Association, and SAG-AFTRA, Solorzano splits his time between Brooklyn, New York, and Hollywood, California.
