Francis, a talented South African actor, hails from Cape Town, where he currently resides and works. Born as the youngest of four siblings to a mother of German/Dutch descent and an English South African father, Francis received a unique upbringing that would later influence his artistic pursuits.
Francis's educational background is marked by his attendance at two Rudolf Steiner schools in Cape Town, followed by a four-year Bachelor's degree in acting from the University of Cape Town, which he completed with honors in 2010.
Francis's acting career began in the theatre, where he spent four seasons performing Shakespearean roles at the prestigious Maynardville open-air theatre in Cape Town.
He gained international recognition for his role as the lead antagonist in the 2010 Bollywood action film "Crook: It's Good to Be Bad," opposite Emraan Hashmi.
Francis's subsequent projects include his portrayal of Jack Cleary in the 2015 thriller "Eye in the Sky," directed by Gavin Hood and starring Alan Rickman, Helen Mirren, Aaron Paul, and Iain Glen. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2015.
On television, Francis has appeared in Netflix/BBC's "The Crown" and Amazon's "The Widow." He is set to play John Rawlins in the upcoming "Ulysses Grant" mini-series on The History Channel.
Francis has also made a mark in the commercial world, starring in the first Rolls-Royce commercial in 40 years, directed by Lena Heady, known for her work on HBO's "Game of Thrones."
As an improviser, Francis is a member of "The Longshots" improvised theatre troupe and regularly performs in Cape Town. He recently received critical acclaim for his solo theatre production of "Nocturne" by Adam Rapp.
