Fernando Lebrija, a Mexican-American filmmaker, hails from Guadalajara, Mexico. He holds a Master's degree in Fine Arts in Film from the prestigious American Film Institute, as well as a year of postgraduate studies in Screenwriting at the University of California, Los Angeles.
Before embarking on a career in feature films, Fernando enjoyed a successful tenure as a Television Director-Producer, working for prominent networks such as Fox Sports, MTV, and Televisa Networks. He also directed numerous music videos and commercial campaigns, showcasing his versatility as a filmmaker.
Fernando's film directorial debut, "Amar a Morir" (2009),or "Love till Death," garnered widespread recognition, earning him multiple award nominations and wins. This included the Diosas De Plata Awards' Best Film Debut Director honor in 2010, as well as the New Vision Award at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. He was also nominated for Best Director at the Imagen Awards in Los Angeles.
In 2016, Fernando released his R-rated comedy, "Sundown," which received a theatrical release in the US and Latin America through Pantelion (Lionsgate). He then directed the Netflix Original movie "#Realityhigh" (2017),which enjoyed a global release.
Fernando's production credits include the top-grossing Spanish-language feature film, "No Manches Frida 2," which grossed nearly $25 million worldwide. He has also produced several Netflix films, including "Se Busca Papa" (2020),"Dad Wanted," and "Sin Hijos" (2021),"One Small Problem."
In television, Fernando executive produced and directed the pilot episode and two additional episodes of the hit Amazon Prime and Pantaya series, "The Key Game." He is currently developing new features and a TV series through his development company, Cielo Content.
