Fanny Fan Lai, a renowned Hong Kong actress, embarked on her cinematic journey in 1957, following her triumphant victory in a prestigious beauty pageant. Initially, she joined Shaw Brothers' esteemed Cantonese film division, adopting the stage name Wan Li-Hong, and made her debut in the 1959 film "Behind the Hidden Scene" (traditional Chinese: 禁地春光; simplified Chinese: 禁地春光).

However, it was her transition to Shaw Brothers' Mandarin division, accompanied by a new stage name, Fanny Fan, that catapulted her to stardom. Fanny Fan's provocative on-screen persona earned her the nickname "Oriental Brigitte Bardot," solidifying her status as a charismatic and captivating actress in the Hong Kong film industry.
