Ezra Matthew Miller, a talented individual, was born in Wyckoff, New Jersey, to Marta Koch, a modern dancer, and Robert S. Miller, a publishing professional with a background in Workman Publishing and Hyperion Books. Ezra has two older sisters and is of Ashkenazi Jewish descent through their father and German-Dutch ancestry through their mother.
Growing up, Ezra developed a passion for singing and was part of the Metropolitan Opera's choir. They attended Rockland Country Day School and The Hudson School, laying the foundation for their future endeavors. Ezra's early career in film began with the independent feature Afterschool (2008),followed by appearances on Californication (2007),Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (1999),Royal Pains (2009),and in the films City Island (2009),Every Day (2010),Beware the Gonzo (2010),and Another Happy Day (2011).
Ezra's breakthrough role came when they played Kevin Khatchadourian, the complex and troubled character, in the critically acclaimed drama We Need to Talk About Kevin (2011). This performance earned them widespread recognition and praise. Miller's subsequent role as Patrick in the well-received teen drama The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012),alongside Logan Lerman and Emma Watson, further solidified their status as a talented young actor.
Ezra's extensive filmography includes period pieces like Madame Bovary (2014),comedies like Trainwreck (2015),and psychological thrillers like The Stanford Prison Experiment (2015). Most recently, they have been cast as the iconic superhero, The Flash, in The Flash (2023),set for release in 2022.
